2026 Annual Meeting Replay
Christian Science has always understood that love is an action. Caring for our neighbors is not just a sentiment, it is something Christ Jesus modeled and we do, with our hands, our presence, and our prayers. This year’s annual meeting at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Tacoma was an opportunity to grow in that practical expression of love.
Sunrise Haven’s Journal-listed Christian Science nurses shared the skills and wisdom they have developed through years of caring for others in three accessible and valuable workshops:
INSPIRATION: How to prepare ourselves prayerfully before we step in to help. Led by Rachel Schutz, Executive Director, and Pamela Greene, Co-Director of Christian Science Nursing and Christian Science Nurses Trainer.
NOURISHMENT: How to help people eat well and enjoy food, even when physical challenges get in the way. Led by Vivian Vanderschelden and Janette Chapman, Journal-listed Christian Science nurses, and Paige Davis, Kitchen & Hospitality Manager.
MOBILITY: How to help someone move safely and with dignity. Led by Bethany Vladic and Elizabeth Alvarado, Journal-listed Christian Science nurses.
Left to right: Inspiration, Nourishment, Mobility
After the workshops, attendees stayed for a Meet and Greet with our Christian Science nurses and fellow supporters of Christian Science nursing. It was a wonderful time to make connections, ask questions, and feel inspired and encouraged.
Special thanks to the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Tacoma, WA, Alan Halfhill of Frugal Filmmakers, and Alex Mulyar of Visual Concepts.
