What is Sunrise Haven?
Sunrise Haven is a Christian Science nursing facility near Seattle, located in Kent, Washington. Sunrise Haven exists to provide an atmosphere supportive of spiritual healing for the practice of Christian Science nursing as established in the Manual of The Mother Church.

What is Christian Science Nursing?
Christian Science nursing is an integral part of the healing ministry of Christian Science. Christian Science nurses are professionally trained to provide skilled physical care tailored to meet the needs of each individual. Christian Science nurses are grounded in Christian Science practice and use prayer, wisdom, and compassion while providing care. They fully expect healing. Every Christian Science nurse is governed by the following by-law:
“Christian Science Nurse. A member of The Mother Church who represents himself or herself as a Christian Science nurse shall be one who has a demonstrable knowledge of Christian Science practice, who thoroughly understands the practical wisdom necessary in a sick room, and who can take proper care of the sick. The cards of such persons may be inserted in The Christian Science Journal under rules established by the publishers.”

A Christian Science nurse is a member of The Mother Church (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, MA) who has chosen to demonstrate this high standard of care through professional practice.

The Board governs Sunrise Haven in accordance with the accreditation standards set by The Commission, and in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

History
Sunrise Haven’s beginnings trace back to the early 1940’s when local church members founded two Christian Science care facilities, one in Seattle and one in Puyallup, WA.
