Sunrise Haven Governance

Sunrise Haven is a Washington non-profit corporation, operating in compliance with applicable State laws pertaining to nursing homes. It is exempt from State laws and regulations where they conflict with the theology and practice of Christian Science.

Accreditation and Inspection

The Commission for Accreditation of Christian Science Nursing Organizations / Facilities, Inc., an independent, nationally recognized body that inspects and accredits Christian Science nursing organizations, provides accreditation to Sunrise Haven.

The Commission for Accreditation visits Sunrise Haven regularly to conduct reviews with the purpose of maintaining a high organizational standard and Medicare requirements. The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services performs an annual inspection of Sunrise Haven. Other regular inspections include those by the State Fire Marshal, our insurance company, and Federal Medicare representatives.

Board of Trustees

A board of trustees governs Sunrise Haven in accordance with the accreditation standards set by the Commission for Accreditation, and in compliance with Federal, State, and local laws.

Management

The executive director has primary responsibility for the day-to-day operations of Sunrise Haven, while the director of Christian Science nursing and director of Christian Science nurses training have primary responsibility for Christian Science nursing services and Christian Science nurses training, respectively.

Dedicated individuals in the office, kitchen, housekeeping, and maintenance departments thoughtfully and actively support the nursing activity.

Self-Evaluation

The Church Manual bylaw titled "Christian Science Nurse" sets the standard for Christian Science nursing. It and the Sunrise Haven Mission Statement are the bases from which trustees, managers, and staff evaluate Sunrise Haven's capacity and effectiveness in providing its services. Every two years, Sunrise Haven conducts its own Self-Inspection.
