Our Unique Approach . . .
Christian Science Nurses Training
Sunrise Haven provides complete and thorough training for Christian Science nurses, based on the requirements stated in the Church Manual bylaw:
"Christian Science Nurse. A member of The Mother Church who represents himself or herself as a Christian Science nurse shall be one who has a demonstrable knowledge of Christian Science practice, who thoroughly understands the practical wisdom necessary in a sick room, and who can take proper care of the sick.
The cards of such persons may be inserted in The Christian Science Journal under rules established by the publishers." (Church Manual of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, by Mary Baker Eddy, page 49.)
An Individualized Program
Sunrise Haven has designed a highly individualized and flexible program intended to meet the particular needs of each student. Classes are available throughout the year and can begin anytime. The instructor usually meets one-on-one with each student and tailors course content to each individual. Individuals bring to their Christian Science nursing practice what they have learned along the way, and Sunrise Haven works with each one to match life experiences with classroom discussions that will take them to the next step.
Every student begins with the "Introduction to Christian Science Nursing" and "Ethics" courses and then moves through the training program according to their particular goals and objectives. A student just out of college will likely choose a study path that is quite different from one who has raised children or cared for a family member.
Christian Scientists with experience in Christian Science nursing in the field may call us to work out a program to meet the observation requirements for listing in The Christian Science Journal.
