nursing services to Washington, northern Oregon, Idaho, western Montana, and Alaska.
Admissions

We are always ready for your inquiries about coming to the facility for Christian
Science nursing care. You may make the call yourself, or ask a family member,
your practitioner, or your attorney-in-fact to call for you. For patient
admission, call 253-813-2096 or 800-641-1718. You also may email general
questions to our
executive director.
For admission to our Christian Science nursing care program, you must be:
- relying solely on God and Christian Science for healing and expecting healing;
- actively working with a Christian Science practitioner listed in
The Christian Science Journal; and
- free from the use of medication.
To proceed with admission, we will ask for the following information:
- Name and phone number of the Journal-listed Christian Science practitioner.
- What kind of care do you need right now?
- Do you have a Medicare card? What is the number?
- Have you ever used your Medicare card (for eyeglasses, wheelchair, etc)?
- Have you been in the hospital recently? (Name of facility and date of stay.)
- Do you have an HMO, or any other type of health insurance?
- Do you have a medical history?
- What is your Social Security Number?
- If you have a Power of Attorney document, we will need a copy of it,
but appointing a Power of Attorney is not a requirement for admission.
- Do you need financial assistance for your stay at Sunrise Haven?
Having the answers to these questions helps us to determine how to best meet your needs.
Following our phone conversation, our Admissions Committee will meet
immediately to consider your admission and return your call as soon as possible.
What to Bring to Sunrise Haven
When you come to be admitted to Sunrise Haven, please bring the following items with you:
- Your Social Security number (and your Social Security card, if possible),*
- a picture ID,
- your Medicare card,*
- your insurance card (if any), and

We ask that you bring clothing that may be laundered in our washers
and dryers (no dry-cleaning please) and we recommend that you leave
valuables (jewelry, cash, etc.) at home.

appealing, nutritious meals and regular snacks. Our loving kitchen staff
will make sure that your food needs are met.
Christian Science Nursing Services
Sunrise Haven offers a wide variety of Christian Science nursing services to
meet any need for care, great or small:
24-hour Christian Science nursing care is available for those in
need of nursing assistance.
- Nursing care includes personal care, wound care, and bed care, as needed.
- Accommodations include a lovely private room with private bath and
three delicious meals a day.
- You have the oversight of a Christian Science nurse listed in The
Christian Science Journal and the spiritual reassurance of knowing that
all those around you are supporting your radical reliance on God for healing.
- Your day might include working with the Christian Science study books,
periodicals, and audiotapes; being read to by a staff member or volunteer;
and other activities, such as musical events, a movie, or a scenic ride in our van.
We expect quick and whole healing. There is no time limit for anyone who is
working out a challenge to remain in our facility, as long as he or she
maintains a consistent expectancy of healing.
Outpatient care assists those who need immediate, urgent
attention, but don't require an overnight stay. Examples include cleaning
or bandaging a wound, constructing a sling, or showing you how to safely use a walker.
It's helpful if you can call ahead so that we may be ready to help when you arrive.
Respite care, or relief care, supports family or private
caregivers who need time off-for a minimum of four hours, or an overnight,
or a week or two-whatever is needed to support the home.
